Chris Aien
Chris is an experienced professional musician who has worked with students from a wide range of ages, abilities and social backgrounds. He has taught one-to-one lessons and also facilitated larger group workshops as a specialist youth worker for various organisations in the East Lothian and Edinburgh areas. He works for an Edinburgh-based charity Upward Mobility Project running music workshops for adults with additional support needs Work with this group has led to performances on STV Live and on the BBC Stage at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has also worked as the peripatetic guitar tutor in local high schools when the regular tutor was unavailable.
Chris plays guitar and sings for a popular function band, and has worked as a dep guitarist for other local bands, in addition to writing for his own original music project. This his let to an extensive knowledge of styles of music. His work ethic and proficiency across multiple musical styles has created opportunities to work and collaborate with a number of esteemed professionals within the industry.
Chris specialises in guitar, which he studied as his main instrument on the BA Popular Music course at Napier University. He also teaches bass guitar and ukulele and is a competent drummer. Chris is also a graduate from Edinburgh University, where he studied an MA in Japanese. This has led to a number of collaborations with Japanese artists, and performances throughout Japan.
Chris currently plays guitar for a number of function bands, including Klones and The Well Scrubbed Social Club.
